Is summertime a good time to prune your deciduous trees?
The answer to that is actually no. It's best to prune deciduous trees during the dormant season. Too much pruning in the summertime can actually kill the tree. If you want the long scientific explanation for why that is, have us come out and give you a estimate, I'll be happy to explain it.
When should I prune my trees?
All trees have an energy budget for foliage and growth. Over pruning and pruning the wrong time of year can wreck that energy budget and cause your plants and trees to slow down in their growth. This is especially true of fruit bearing trees that should be pruned every year between November and March.
